In Gene Weingarten's piece about listening to multiple gasbags, he was patronizingly dismissive of Keith Oberman for referring to the Bush Administration as fascist. Oberman's sanctimony can make your teeth hurt. But what's wrong with calling Bush a fascist. Look at this definition, "Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: patriotism, nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, corporatism, populism, collectivism, autocracy and opposition to political and economic liberalism." Why haven't others in the media noticed this? I guess they are waiting for the report that Bush was caught in a tryst with two midgets at the Bellagio. Now there would be a big story.

I am a faithful OTM listener and I have heard this piece at least 3 times. It may have been interesting the first time. It seems like OTM recycles a lot of stories. I could understand this from a daily show, but from a weekly show?

Mr. Solomon does make one valid point in this: gun owners are as concerned about safety as non-gun owners, perhaps much more so. It would have been much more responsible journalism to put this actual fact, IN FACT, in your other recent attempted hatchet on the 2nd Amendment.

Nice try at a hatchet job, NPR. But as your reporter observes, even the NYT does not have the daily readership of Mr. Michael Savage. Your envy is predictable, evident and oh so boring.
