The idea of influencers - i.e. trendsetting social connectors - was one of the stickiest ideas in a book full of them, Malcolm Gladwell’s bestseller The Tipping Point. But writer Clive Thompson says the idea is based on shaky science, and that when it comes to trendsetting, all power to the people.

Grrr…! Just the mention of Stanley Milgram sets my teeth on edge. Glad to hear some of his research is considered out of date. Last time you ran this, I ignored it.
This time, mention of Six Degrees of Separation reminds me that not only is Will Smith a shoe-in for the film role of Barak Obama, Obama may owe some of his popularity to the way Smith has been embraced over the years. In a way, he still is the fake son of Sydney Poitier. The Fresh Prince goes to the White House; I like it.
