Despite the comparisons, video games are a wholly new medium, allowing an interactivity, agency and complexity most other media just can't provide. Brooke talks to Kill Screen Magazine editor Jamin Brophy-Warren, novelist Nicholson Baker, and journalist Tom Bissell about the power and potential of video games and video game design.

All I need to say is that this is definitely a good opinion. I am doing a project about the effects media has on the video game industry, and you said a few things that I might be able to use. I'm a casual gamer, and I still do well in school. I'm never focused enough on anything - not even video games. I got distracted by a book the last time I could've played.
I despise video games, don't let my kids play them, and despair of a future run by people whose head are empty of anything but shoot-'em-up games. While your programme didn't change my opinion I thought it was an absolutely brilliant explanation of the appeal of video games and how they have become so predominant today. Really: wonderfully written and totally engaging programme: thank you!
I find the video game culture fascinating as a media scholar. I grew up playing Atari games on our console and the narratives and plot lines have advanced with the graphics. Very, very cool of On the Media to devote a show to this topic. Thank you!
