According to the About page on this website, one aspect of On the Media's mission is to "examine threats to the freedom of information and expression in America and abroad." You're welcome to question the bias of this piece, Craig, but the privacy implications of the Patriot Act are on-topic for On the Media.

I am generally a fan of On the Media as an unbiased source of reporting about the media.

The story on the Patriot Act, however, was neither unbiased nor about the media.

It was instead a wholly biased look at a story that had nothing to do with the media. It did not recount the media’s coverage of the renewal of the patriot act in anyway.

Bob Garfield clearly made his position about the patriot act known, and it was the same as that of the guest. This in no way informed me or provided any insight into the topic at hand. If I wanted to hear biased reporting of opinion with no view of both sides I would listen to fox news.
