I feel that the media does control your mind in a since. We do not know it, but the media influences us in ways. To me, the media is corrupt.
I dont feel like the media controls your mind.
should go on daily show - could finish sentences
I feel like the media does control our minds in a sense because, they way we think of things come from the media. If they portrayed someone as mean and insensitive then the public would feel the same way even if they don't know the whole story
@seth, another reason why there's no point in engaging in a discussion that you're suggesting i engage with is that it's a chicken and egg debate that will get neither you or i anywhere. you might want to consider stepping away from it, and embracing that i never negated what she is saying, but might consider viewing my analysis through a critical theory approach.
@seth, you completely missed the point i was making. i don't think there is a need to discuss an impasse.
@sophia Have you read the book or listened to the radio show? It sounds like you're jumping to conclusions. Perhaps the fact that people like Brooke take time to analyze how we receive and digest media and others take time to listen and spread the word is the exact point that is being made here: we are the media.
Brooke, I am very disappointed with your insight. I disagree with your perspective because you, as a person in the position of privileged power, should know better than to say that the media is just a reflection of society. For someone who holds a position of power, I would hope that you consider being more accountable for the information that is disseminated over the radio waves and television sets. As the media you have the power to inform or report correctly or incorrectly. If you haven't connected the rampant destruction of ALEC, Murdoch's Fox Networks and Wall Street, and Koch brothers have done to the fabric of our American society, your analysis is far from being accurate. If you believe media is just reflecting reality, please consider that you have the power to change it for justice and equitable treatment to all people regardless of class, gender, sexual orientation, race, disabilities, etc.
I saw your Colbert interview. It was excellent, and you, Ms. Gladstone, are HOT!!!
I can't watch as it doesn't play in the UK. I was looking forward to seeing that.
Great job on the report last night! What a treat... Two of my favorite things combined!
I didn't know Brooke was going to be on & was super excited when i saw the promo! You were great Brooke!
