On the Media Fall Internships Available!

Friday, September 02, 2011 - 04:50 PM

Do you live in the New York area? Are you in school or a recent graduate? Would you be interested in a fall internship with On the Media? Well here's your chance!

There are no specific criteria for the OTM internship and past interns have come to the show from a wide range of backgrounds. While we do not expect new interns to have any experience with radio production, some journalism experience is preferred. Basically, we are looking for applicants who are motivated, avid media consumers, and excited about learning.

If you are interested in working with us, please send a cover letter and resume to Alex Goldman at agoldman@wnyc.org. Feel free to contact him if you have any questions as well. We look forward to hearing from you!

I would like to thank everyone who applied for our fall internship. The positions have been filled for the fall, but if you are still interested in an internship at On the Media, we have them every three months. Please take a look at our internship page for more info.

At a time when parents, themselves educated in the social graces, have somehow raised children without explaining to them the importance of writing thank-you notes, it would be interesting for Alex Goldman to react to an observation about a potential applicant's response to the availability of an OTM fall internship.

I refer to the applicant's addressing Mr. Goldman as "Alex." Even if the applicant were unsure of Alex's gender, "Sir or "Madam" then being in order (Alex being a nickname for both Alexandra and Alexander), the accompaniment of Mr. Goldman's photo resolves that issue.

Mr. Goldman may prefer to be addressed by his first name but, until he establishes this, shouldn't a wise applicant for an internship be aware of the importance of using courtesy titles?

Alex, what's the deadline for applicants?

Thanks!

Thank you for the comment. The internships generally last three months and are unpaid. Obviously the more time you can spend with us the more you will get out of the experience, but many interns do the internship part-time.

Thanks,
