A Year of Murders

Last February we spoke with L.A. Times crime reporter Jill Leovy, who started a blog called the Homicide Report. Her goal: to chronicle every murder in the county of Los Angeles. One year and more than 800 homicides later, Leovy is optimistic.

We need a Jill Leovy in New Haven.

It is so sad that no one else has commented on the tragic losses our nation suffers not just on the battlefields but on our city streets.

The problem won't disappear just because we avert our eyes.
