Public Relations Retaliation

July 11, 2008

Last week Fox News aired doctored photos of a New York Times reporter and editor in retaliation for a story Fox didn't like. The New York Times' David Carr wrote about the incident and exposed the unusually aggressive tactics the Fox News public relations team sometimes uses against reporters.

Fox has no shame, is a joke if you actually consider it a news source and I'm really glad you are watching them so I don't have to.

I have just listened to a whole segment of an NPR reporter and a New York Times reporter complaining about having their feet held to the fire when they report on a competitor. Are they whiny babies? Word!

I listen to NPR, FOX News, and CNN. It is noteworthy that of the three, FOX News has been judged by the Pew Foundation as the most balanced in its reporting on this year's presidential campaign. It must gall NPR's OTM to realize that FOX got there first in nailing the NYT for its serving as a propaganda outlet for Iran.

Hello M and V! You completely missed the point while running to defend your neo-con heroes: Fox "News" aired photoshopped photos on the air in retaliation. Thats "Fair and Balanced?" Who's acting like babies? Does anyone know what Journalism even is anymore? Lastly, cant anyone at Fox use Photoshop better than that?

Virginia,

Maybe you should revisit several studies done on Fox news (including Pew) attesting to how they act as a propaganda machine.

The study I like the best is on how Fox viewers are the most ill-informed about current events. http://65.109.167.118/pipa/pdf/oct03/IraqMedia_Oct03_rpt.pdf

This is a little old, showing that FOX viewers thought that Saddam was behind 9/11, that MWDs were found in Iraq, etc.

Then there was the National Annenberg Election Survey, which found Daily Show viewers to be better informed than Fox viewers!

I know I know, NYT, OTM and Barack Obama are Iran propagandists. If you can say it enough times, I guess it might be true.
