Julie Whitaker is WNYC's social media editor. She loves tweeting the weather, wishing New York a good morning, and saying no to Twitter spam. When she's not talking about local news, she's watching television or listening to "Groove Is in the Heart."
Previously, she worked for six years as the web and social media strategist at Doctors Without Borders. There, she was on a team nominated for an Emmy for innovative approaches to news and documentary advocacy for "Starved for Attention," a campaign on childhood malnutrition.
Julie graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Computer Science. She serves on the board of the Crow Hill Community Association in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
