Julie Whitaker

Social Media Editor

Julie Whitaker is WNYC's social media editor. She loves tweeting emoji weather, wishing New York a good morning, and saying no to Twitter spam. When she's not talking about local news, she's seeing a comedy show, watching television, or listening to "Groove Is in the Heart."

Previously, she worked for six years as the web and social media strategist at Doctors Without Borders. There, she was on a team nominated for an Emmy for innovative approaches to news and documentary advocacy for "Starved for Attention," a campaign on childhood malnutrition.

Julie graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Computer Science. She lives in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
