Last weekend in Chicago there were 82 shootings resulting in 16 deaths. Bob discusses the events of the weekend with Chicago Tribune reporter Peter Nickeas whose job it is to drive around the city all night reporting on shootings.
Excellent piece; as someone who participates in Father Pflegers walks, as well as volunteers in after school programs at Cabrini, this really resonated. And I was terribly touched by Mr. Nickeas's descriptions - having never been in a war, as he put it. When will the urgency of this problem (in many urban areas) strike the country as a whole? Thank you
Best story I've heard in a long time. Mr. Nickeas' words, and particularly his inflection and world-weary tone were haunting. I'm going to seek out his earlier articles as well. Thanks for the great story.
