T-shirt design contest

Here are the rules and other info you need to know in order to create and submit your entry in the On The Media T-Shirt Design Contest. The winner will have the opportunity to be interviewed by Brooke or Bob and will of course receive design credit for the shirt.

Read all of the rules very carefully, as failure to follow them could disqualify the gorgeous design that you slaved over. Once you complete your design, e-mail it to onthemedia@wnyc.org. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

DEADLINE: Monday August 25, 2008

Design Guidelines
  • » Your design should include the words “On The Media.”
  • » The shirt should be something that someone would want to wear even if they don’t know the show. In short, universally esthetically pleasing.
  • » Do not include existing OTM logo. If you want to include a logo of your own design, great.
  • » Your design can be on the front OR back of the shirt.
  • » You may submit as many designs as you’d like.
  • » Your design must be wholly original. By submitting a design you are guaranteeing that you hold rights to everything in it, and that it does not infringe on any copyrighted material.

Design Specifications
  • » It is preferred that you create your artwork in these vector file format graphic programs: Illustrator CS3, Freehand 10, Corel Draw 7 and save as an .AI or .EPS file.
  • » Art must be sent so colors separate accordingly. DO NOT send each separation as a separate file.
  • » All fonts/type must be converted to curves or outlines.
  • » If you are submitting a .JPG, .EPS or .TIFF file from another program is must be no smaller than 225 DPI and sized to scale (meaning artwork must be the finished print size).
  • » DO NOT send each separation as a separate file.
  • » Hand drawn artwork is OK, but photographs are not acceptable. Please scan and submit digitally as noted above.
  • » Please be sure to include a PDF of your artwork no larger then 5MB.
  • » Artwork must fit within a 12" x 12" imprint area which can be positioned anywhere on the front or back side of the shirt within 1" of the seams (side, neck and hem seams).
  • » You may use up to 2 colors for your design but they have to be printed on just one side of the shirt (front or back).
  • » Please indicate what color shirt your design will look best on. (Preferably a light color.)

Submission Agreement
  • » You must be 18 years or older to submit. If you’re younger you can still make a design, but it must be submitted on your behalf by a parent or guardian.
  • » Any submitted design becomes the property of WNYC Radio. We have to do that to protect ourselves legally.
  • » The Winner will receive design credit for the t-shirt. The credit will not be on the t-shirt, however it will appear in written promotional materials as well as the WNYC and On the Media Web sites.
  • » WNYC Radio will have all rights to the winning design. By submitting you agree that if your design wins, it can be used by WNYC Radio on a t-shirt and in any other way we wish.
  • » We reserve the right to make adjustments to the winning design.
  • » You must submit your design by midnight Monday, August 25, 2008.
  • » Entries will be judged by the staff of On The Media. All Entry Designs will be screened and those that comply with these rules will be judged by the staff of On the Media. The standard will be which design best captures the essence of On the Media. (This is your chance to get inside the head of Brooke Gladstone!)
  • » By submitting you are agreeing to all contest rules.
  • » In the event the judges feel no entry is suitable for the new design, On The Media reserves the right to cancel the contest
  • » Sorry, this contest is not open to employees of WNYC Radio or NPR or its affiliates.

Thank you and GOOD LUCK !!!
